Maikalangu Defection From PDP To APC A Strategic Decision Driven By His Developmental Achievements And Popularity

By Comrade Amb Victor Monday Olajide

The defection of the Excutive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, (AMAC ), Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has sparked intense debate and speculation. While some have interpreted his move as a protective ploy for re-election, others see it as a strategic decision driven by his development achievements and popularity among AMAC residents.
In reality, Maikalangu's defection is more likely a testament to his strength as a candidate and his ability to deliver development projects. As the Executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), he has implemented numerous projects that have transformed the lives of residents both at Urban and Rural Communities in the Council. Maikalangu’s twin agenda of Aggressive Urbanization and Rural Transformation Policies has yielded impressive results, including:
-Roads; Asphalt tarred roads with drainages, pedestrian walkways, and ancillary road-related works across the 12 wards of AMAC.

-Electrification and water; Comprehensive schemes, including solar-powered projects, have brought light and water to communities.
-Education, Revenue, Health, Security and Empowerment: Various initiatives that have improved the quality of life for residents.

These projects have earned Maikalangu a strong supporter base and acceptability among AMAC residents. His development prowess has made him a fitting candidate to run for primaries, even in the APC. The party's decision to welcome him may be driven by a desire to expand their acceptability in the FCT, given his proven track record.
Maikalangu's achievements demonstrate his commitment to delivering dividends of democracy to AMAC residents. His ability to implement projects that transcend party lines has earned him respect and admiration from residents.

Maikalangu's defection is not driven by a fear of losing re-election, but rather his decision to join the APC is to further his development agenda and expand his reach.
The APC's decision to welcome Maikalangu’s wise movement is a strategic move to strengthen their presence in the FCT. This move is consistent with the party's recent trend of welcoming defectors from other parties, which they believe is a sign of confidence in President Bola Tinubu's leadership.

In conclusion, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu's defection from the PDP to the APC is a testament to his strength as a candidate and his development achievements. His ability to deliver projects that have transformed the lives of AMAC residents has earned him a strong supporter base and acceptability among residents.
As AMAC residents look to the future, they can expect more development projects and initiatives from Maikalangu's administration. His commitment to delivering dividends of democracy has earned him a reputation as a leader who can get things done.

Whether in the PDP or APC, Maikalangu's focus remains on developing AMAC and improving the lives of residents.

Maikalangu's story serves as a model for other leaders, demonstrating the impact of effective governance and development-oriented policies.

Ultimately, Maikalangu's defection is a strategic move that reflects his commitment to development and his desire to expand his reach. As he continues to lead AMAC, residents can expect more projects and initiatives that will transform their lives.

His legacy as a development-oriented leader will likely endure, regardless of party affiliations.
