Hon. Olanrewaju Akingbaso Defects to APC to Align With The Renewed Hope and Promises Democracy Dividends

By Comrade Amb Victor Monday Olajide

Olanrewaju Akingbaso, the lawmaker representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in Ondo State, has made a significant political shift by defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This move, announced through a defection letter read by House Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, marks a notable change in Akingbaso's political trajectory.

Akingbaso cited internal conflicts within the PDP as a primary reason for his departure, expressing a newfound alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s development agenda. This decision reflects a broader trend in Nigerian politics, where lawmakers often switch parties in pursuit of greater influence and opportunities for their constituents.

Throughout his tenure, Akingbaso has been recognized for his dedication to his constituency, consistently striving to deliver benefits to the grassroots level. His efforts have included empowering thousands of constituents and facilitating federal appointments for many others.

With his move to the APC, Akingbaso is likely positioning himself to leverage the ruling party's resources and influence to further enhance development projects and opportunities for his people. This defection could potentially yield greater dividends for Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, depending on how effectively Akingbaso navigates his new political landscape.
