President Bola Tinubu on Thursday night convened a high-level reconciliation meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, aiming to resolve the protracted political crisis in Rivers State.
The closed-door session attracted key stakeholders, including suspended Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, Speaker of the Assembly Martins Amaewhule, and other members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The meeting followed the declaration of a political emergency by President Tinubu on March 18, during which Governor Fubara, his deputy, and all State Assembly members were suspended amid escalating tensions and deepening divisions within the state’s political leadership.
