BENUE GUBER HOPEFUL ROLES OUT PLAN TO CONTEST 2027 AGENDA RESCUE

A Frontline contender for the 2027 Benue state governorship election, Architect Anthony Obekpa has said that his mission to govern the state was informed by a burning desire to transform the landscape from a mere agrarian expression to a productive industrial hub. While expressing dissatisfaction over the current state of affairs in the state, he noted that lack of visible and people oriented development in the state was occasioned by poor choices made by past and the current administration. He however acknowledged that people still have faith in the APC but lamented that the performance of some individuals holding political position in trust for the people have not met the expectations of the people , stressing that if the APC does not send a clear signal to the grassroots that the party recognize the existing problem, the party might not succeed in the 2027 elections. Architect Obekpa further expressed disappointment over the current spate of insecurity across the state. He explained that the 'yes father' campaign matra which promised improved security is completely in contrast with the present reality. He contended that a major campaign promise of the governor Alia administration was to return IDP's to their ancestral homes which he said remains a mirage. According to him, instead of resettling the IDPs back to their ancestral homes, new camps are springing up across the state thereby creating needless hardship amidst insecurity. The seasoned politician and technocrat whose profound contribution to the Nigerian political development since the second republic saw to the massive grassroots support for the NPP in Benue south insisted that the current situation in Benue state is a challenge which has defiled previous efforts geared towards entrenching good governance hence the urgent need to address the pains felt by the people.
