RE: False and Misleading Report on Food Distribution Programme in Doma
By Abdullahi Abubakar
Our attention has been drawn to a mischievous and fabricated report authored by one Rabiu Omaku alleging that there was a stampede, fainting of women, and mismanagement during the food and cash distribution programme organized by the immediate past Inspector General of Police, Retired IGP Mohammed Adamu Abubakar, in Doma.
We categorically state that the report is false, baseless, and a deliberate attempt to malign the reputation of the former IGP for cheap political gain.
The programme, which was organized wife of the former Inspector-General of Police, ended in good faith, was well-coordinated and peacefully conducted under the watch of security agencies in Doma. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude and appreciation for the kind gesture, and at no point did any individual lose her life. Also, the cash token given by wife of the ex-IGP Boss herself was N3,000, not N10,000, and no cash was put in an envelope, as falsely reported.
It is unfortunate that Rabiu Omaku, who has consistently exhibited unprofessionalism in the practice of journalism, has again resorted to propaganda and outright falsehood. He is well known for being sponsored by selfish politicians to concoct lies aimed at smearing respected personalities in the state.
We urge the public to disregard this concocted story in its entirety. The goodwill programme of wife of the Retired IGP Mohammed Adamu Abubakar remains a testament to his commitment to supporting the people and should not be tainted by fabricated narratives.
We further call on media practitioners to uphold the ethics of balanced reporting and professionalism, rather than descending to cheap blackmail.
Abdullahi Abubakar
Secretary,
Distribution Committee
