APC National Chairman Receives Delegation of Female Chief Executives from Federal Agencies
Abuja, March 6, 2026 – The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, on Thursday received a high-powered delegation of female Chief Executive Officers from various Federal Government agencies during a courtesy visit at the party's National Secretariat in Abuja.
The delegation, which consisted of 37 accomplished women holding strategic leadership positions across key federal agencies and parastatals, was led by Hon. (Dr.) Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).
Prominent members of the delegation included Aisha Rimi, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC); Dr. Temitope Ilori, Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA); Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN); Zubaida Umar, Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA); Binta Bello, Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP); Mojoyinoluwa Dekalu-Thomas, Managing Director of the Nigerian Electricity Liability Management Company (NELMCO); Nonye Ayeni, Executive Director/CEO of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC); and Tola Akerele, Managing Director of the National Theatre Nigeria, among other distinguished leaders.
According to reports from the meeting, the discussions centered on the pivotal and ongoing contributions of Nigerian women to governance, political mobilization, and grassroots engagement throughout the country. The delegation underscored the substantial role women play in fortifying political structures and ensuring sustained democratic participation, especially at the grassroots level, where they serve as the primary drivers of voter education, community organization, and long-term political activism.
The women leaders also openly discussed the challenges they encounter in public service and politics, such as insufficient institutional backing, limited funding for women-focused initiatives, and the persistent need for enhanced recognition of their accomplishments and efforts in both professional and political domains.
In response, Professor Yilwatda commended the delegation for their outstanding service to the nation and congratulated them on their meritorious appointments to these critical roles. He described their leadership as a testament to individual excellence and broader strides toward gender equity in Nigeria's public sector.
The APC National Chairman encouraged the group to sustain high visibility and active involvement in party programs and political activities, noting that increased participation by women of their stature would significantly enhance the influence and effectiveness of women within the APC and in Nigeria's broader national affairs.
He further urged them to maintain and intensify mobilization efforts among women at the community level nationwide, emphasizing that grassroots engagement remains essential to the party's political success and the advancement of democratic principles.
Reaffirming the APC's dedication to gender inclusivity, Professor Yilwatda assured the delegation that the party's leadership would continue to promote and support initiatives designed to boost women's participation in politics, public service, and decision-making at every level. He highlighted the party's recognition of women's indispensable contributions to governance and nation-building, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The courtesy visit also served as a platform for the delegation to express solidarity with the APC leadership, showcase their collective impact in government institutions, and pledge continued support for the party's objectives, including mobilization in support of President Tinubu's agenda ahead of future electoral cycles.
