These appointments, effective immediately, confer upon Takori the exalted role of Political Adviser, upon Ilo the critical mandate of Chief Technical Adviser (CTA), and upon Nwosu the vital responsibility of Spokesperson. Announced through an official statement issued by the NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, Esq., this masterstroke is deliberately calibrated to fortify the operational excellence, administrative coherence, and strategic communication surrounding Senator Dickson — both in his towering capacity as National Leader of the NDC and as a distinguished serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
As the Nigeria Democratic Congress consolidates its organisational foundations and intensifies preparations for the epochal 2027 general elections, these appointments stand as a clear demonstration of the party’s resolve to assemble the finest minds and most tested hands in service of a credible, progressive alternative for the Nigerian people.
Osa Director, Esq., in conveying this historic decision, paid glowing tribute to the appointees: Ilo and Nwosu as accomplished professionals whose careers are distinguished by unimpeachable professionalism, sterling credibility, and rock-solid integrity; and Takori as a battle-tested public administrator and statesman whose vast experience in governance, the law, and party organisation has been forged in the crucible of national service.
Takori: A Colossus of Political Acumen and Legal Distinction
The Honourable Sani Takori, a distinguished lawyer and seasoned politician from Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, brings to this high office a lifetime of exemplary public service. His illustrious journey commenced in the former Sokoto State, where he served with distinction in successive capacities before rising to the eminent positions of Registrar, Magistrate, Solicitor-General, and ultimately Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Zamfara State.
An illustrious alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University and the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Takori represented his people with honour in the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007. On four successive occasions he secured his party’s senatorial ticket, yet, in a rare display of selflessness and party loyalty, he voluntarily stepped aside so that other candidates might triumph on the party’s platform — a testament to his prioritisation of collective victory over personal ambition.
A former local government chairman, Takori further distinguished himself as National Legal Adviser to the Council of Ulamas and Chief Legal Officer of the Nigerian Electoral Commission. He served as Secretary of the Yar’Adua Presidential Campaign in both 2003 and 2007, and in 2019 stood as the governorship candidate of the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) in Zamfara State. As a founding member of the NDC and its Protem National Secretary during the party’s formative registration, Takori embodies the institutional memory, legal depth, and organisational discipline essential to the NDC’s historic mission.
Ilo: Master Strategist and Technical Anchor
VinMartin Obiora Ilo, newly appointed Chief Technical Adviser, arrives with nearly four decades of distinguished service spanning journalism, broadcasting, public administration, strategic communication, development consultancy, and international relations. An alumnus of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, Ilo is a product of the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu (Mass Communication), holds a Master of Science in Development Studies from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a master’s degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Lagos State University.
His broadcasting career began at Radio Nigeria, where he rose to the esteemed position of Network Newscaster, before joining Africa Independent Television (AIT). At AIT he retired in 2013 as Director of Special Duties and South-East Operations — a tenure marked by strategic excellence. He later served as Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Enugu State and as a member of the Governing Board of the National Broadcasting Commission. Until this latest call to national duty, Ilo was President and Chief Executive Officer of Signature TV. Hailing from Enugu State, he brings to the NDC a rare combination of intellectual depth, media mastery, and technical precision.
Nwosu: The Voice of Strategic Communication
Steve Nwosu, a long-standing and trusted associate of Senator Dickson, assumes the role of Spokesperson with more than three decades of outstanding achievement in journalism, media administration, consultancy, and political communication. Renowned for his syndicated satirical column FrankTalk, Nwosu has navigated with distinction the full spectrum of print, broadcast, and digital media.
A proud graduate of the University of Nigeria and the Lagos Business School, he built a distinguished career at The Guardian and ThisDay newspapers, serving successively as Features Editor, Political Editor, Editor of ThisDayStyle, and Editor of ThisDay on Saturday. At the inception of The Sun newspapers, he became pioneer Editor of Saturday Sun, rising thereafter to Editor of Daily Sun, Executive Director (Corporate Services), and Deputy Managing Director and Deputy Editor-in-Chief.
Nwosu later founded The Nigerian Xpress Newspaper and briefly served as Controller of News at Plus TV Africa. He currently holds the positions of Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Edibofa Communication and Publishing Limited — publishers of People’s FM 105.5 Abuja, People’s FM 93.1 Yenagoa, Universal Television Africa, and The Nigerian Xpress. The Imo State-born media titan further served for eight years on the Standing Committee of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, representing the West Zone and later as Treasurer — a record of peer recognition that underscores his standing within the profession.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress has affirmed that the responsibilities of these three distinguished appointees shall comprehensively cover Senator Dickson’s engagements both as National Leader of the party and as a serving Senator of the Federal Republic. These appointments arrive at a defining moment when political parties and their principal actors across the nation are intensifying mobilisation, strategic positioning, and organisational fortification ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In elevating these outstanding sons of Nigeria to positions of high trust, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson has once again demonstrated the clarity of vision, depth of judgment, and unwavering resolve that define true national leadership. The NDC stands strengthened, its structures fortified, and its path to 2027 illuminated by excellence, experience, and patriotic purpose.
