YONNET COORDINATOR, OLORUNFEMI, RALLIES YORUBA COMMUNITY LEADERS ACROSS 19 NORTHERN STATES, FCT
ABUJA — Yoruba community leaders across Nigeria’s 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have called on political stakeholders and community groups to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for re-election in the 2027 general elections.
The call was made by the National Coordinator of the Yoruba Northern Network for Tinubu (YONNET) and Deputy President-General of the Yoruba Community in the 19 Northern States, Hon. James Bolorunduro Olorunfemi, during a strategic meeting in Abuja.
According to Olorunfemi, the meeting was convened to strengthen political engagement and coordinate mobilisation efforts among Yoruba residents across Northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He described YONNET as the adopted political platform through which its members seek to coordinate support for President Tinubu’s re-election across the region.
OLORUNFEMI HAILS TINUBU’S REFORMS
Speaking at the meeting, Olorunfemi commended the Tinubu administration for its policies and interventions in infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, employment generation and economic reforms.
He argued that the administration’s policies were intended to improve public infrastructure, expand economic opportunities and create conditions for Nigerians to improve their livelihoods.
The YONNET coordinator also maintained that increased funding for different sectors of government could support efforts to address critical national needs.
He expressed confidence in the administration’s policy direction, urging community leaders to sustain engagement with residents and communicate their views on the government's performance ahead of the next general election.
2027: YONNET TASKS STAKEHOLDERS ON GRASSROOTS MOBILISATION
Olorunfemi subsequently called on relevant stakeholders, political associates and community leaders to intensify grassroots engagement and political sensitisation among Yoruba residents throughout Northern Nigeria.
He urged members of the network to promote peaceful political participation and communicate their position on President Tinubu’s second-term ambition within their respective communities.
According to him, the group intends to strengthen its outreach across the region as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
He also appealed to Yoruba community members to remain united and actively participate in the country's democratic process.
YONNET EMERGES AMID CALLS FOR UNITY
The Yoruba Northern Network for Tinubu is a political support group seeking to mobilise members of the Yoruba community across the Northern states and the FCT in support of President Tinubu's re-election campaign.
The development comes amid broader political positioning by groups and stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The report also identifies Barrister Afeez O. Adigun as President-General of the Yoruba community leadership associated with the network. Adigun had reportedly urged members to shun violence and embrace unity.
As political activities gradually intensify ahead of 2027, the group says it intends to pursue its objectives through community engagement, mobilisation and peaceful participation in the democratic process.
